Reflection on the Bible Verse of the Day

Everyone has their own interpretation of what the verses mean...this is my understanding of them

Luke 16:17

And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

The law will always remain. Even though some trivialize it and bend it for their own purpose.

See yesterdays verse that warn about shepherds causing the flock to go astray...

Jeremiah 50:6

My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their resting place.

Beware of those that do not teach the laws of God.

John 11:25

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believed in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

Aside from the normal Christian understanding, this has another meaning which coincides with the statement Jesus made...

Matthew 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

If you study the prophets of the Old Testament, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Hosea, etc..., they constantly talk about the House (or kingdom) of Judah and the House of Israel.

A brief history lesson for you...The Kingdom Of Israel was split into separate houses (or kingdoms) 933 BC after King Solomon's death.

Judah was conquered in 586 BC by Babylon but returned 70 years later. Israel was captured by the Assyrians but never returned. They are considered by many still 'lost'. Their identity remains unknown from all but God.

With Jesus making the statement he did in Matthew 15:24, this would put him on a mission to find those lost sheep of Israel spoken of by the prophets and usher in the end times. Jesus knew the scripture and understood from the prophets that before God's return, the two houses (or kingdoms) must be reunited in the promised land.

Repeated disobedience, idol worship, and profaning of the sabbath were some of the reasons God allowed the house of Israel to be defeated and carried away. God was so angry he pushed them away. But because of God's mercy, He could not remain angry with His chosen people forever.

Jesus tried to reach out to those lost and have them repent fo their sins and return to God. We still see Jesus doing this today... calling the lost sheep home.

Isaiah 25:9

And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

Though the wait may seem long, it will be worth it.

1 Corinthians 10:21

Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

Jeremiah 10:24

O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.

______________________________________________________

We deserve to be corrected by God, but His mercy and compassion can save us from death. You have to repent with your whole mind, body and soul.

Many take this lightly and never look any further once they consider themselves "saved". For those who think this is a game and you can fool God...

Matthew 7:13-23

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Matthew 22:32

I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

In case you had any doubts about life after death. God didn't say He was the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, but He is!
