Everyone has their own interpretation of what the verses mean...this is my understanding of them

Matthew 5:42

Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

Everyone has run across those that stand on the corner asking for food, money, or work.

Many of us make assumptions about those people. But who are we to assume they will abuse your contribution. We give because it is commanded of us to give. What they do with it afterwards is between them and God.

Next time you are faced with this opportunity think about this next verse...

Hebrews 13:2 2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

This verse is so true in our society today. We see a person on the corner asking for food, money, work, etc. and we assume many things about this person. We worry that we may give to them and that they will abuse our gift. We need not worry about how they will use it, because that is between them and God. The fact that we were kind enough and generous enough to help out someone who seems to be in need is what the Lord wants us to do. We should feel good about helping one another, no matter what the recipient does with the gift.
